To cut down tree branches that were at risk of falling and injuring passing park visitors, workers in Copenhagen, Denmark, set aside their chainsaws and turned to an unusual option: dynamite. A biologist for the Danish Nature Agency said the breaks left by the controlled explosions carried a much more natural appearance, similar to lightning striking a tree, and would promote biodiversity in the long term as plants and wildlife could make use of the fallen branches.
