'Staggering' rise in global measles cases last year, say leading health organizations

Global measles cases jumped by 18 per cent in a year to an estimated nine million, and deaths rose to 136,000 — mostly among children — the World Health Organization and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in a joint statement on Thursday.

A jury on Thursday convicted the Canadian man who broke into former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's San Francisco home last year, seeking to hold her hostage, and attacked her husband with a hammer. He was convicted of federal charges of attempted kidnapping and assault.

Syria ordered by World Court to halt torture and preserve evidence

More pandas will be headed to the U.S., China's Xi suggests
