EPA orders cleanup in Ohio after toxic derailment, says train operator will pay

The U.S. government on Tuesday ordered rail operator Norfolk Southern to clean up contaminated soil and water at the site of a train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, and to attend all public meetings with local residents.

Olena Gnes was a YouTube vlogger and tour guide in Kyiv before Russia's war on Ukraine began a year ago. From a makeshift bomb shelter with her three children, and as her husband volunteered to defend Ukraine, Gnes started speaking to media just days into the war. She was recently interviewed again by CBC's Rosemary Barton Live, this time from the U.S. where she's safe with her family.
